Blast Furnace Reline

METALS | PORT KEMBLA, NSW

Simply put, a blast furnace reline shutdown is basically a rebuild of the furnace itself and, as such, is a complex project. For instance, a shutdown can last over six (6) months and involve thousands of workers from multiple engineering disciplines and contracting companies.

Our teams installed several important monitoring, electrical, and instrument systems for the project. In addition, management of the contracts within the complex working environment was another major element of the project.

Our teams had active involvement in both safety and environmental issues of the work done on-site. In doing so, they also maintained a plan and project schedule that provided flexibility to the changing availability of the work site.

Our project services team managed these aspects while at the same time using site supervisors. Our teams worked together to ensure progress was reported accurately and, as such, adjustments to work crews and approaches as required. This approach enabled us to manage issues in the project and their causes so that we reduced delay issues and neutralised final variations to the job.

Overall, our teams completed all work on time and under budget. Notably, we received excellent feedback on the management of our work packages. We approach each project as a collaboration, partnering with our clients to achieve the desired outcomes. We contribute our collaborative approach as a factor for the successful delivery of the project.
